Lothrop boxed fog horn 30331as engraved on the maker's brass tag. Crank handle on box side and retaining its original red painted wood box and black stenciled letters on both sides. The internal bellows are intact and function.

A marine hose piece was added to replace a worn piece so air can move through the bellows and the horn can sound. Dimensions are: L = 16"; W = 8.5"; and, H = 11.5. This fog horn was manufactured by the L. The fog horn was invented by Llewellyn Day Lothrop, born in Appleton, Maine in March of 1836.

He invented different swivels and hooks for fishing, but was best known for his famous Lothrop PATENT Fog Horn. His business was located on Duncan Point Locust St.
